What is Jeuveau®?

Every day we make many different facial expressions, which are all made possible by muscle contractions in our face. Over time, these repeated muscle movements can lead to permanent lines, also known as dynamic lines. Jeuveau® is an injectable treatment that is FDA approved to smooth glabellar lines, or the lines between your eyebrows. Like Botox® Cosmetic, Jeuveau® is formulated with botulinum toxin type A, which works by temporarily relaxing muscles for a smoother skin appearance.

Who Can Benefit from Jeuveau®?

Adults 18 years and older who are looking to soften the appearance of their glabellar lines can benefit from this injectable treatment. However, individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of severe allergies or keloid scarring, or who have a skin infection at the planned treatment site should not receive this treatment. To determine if you are a good candidate for Jeuveau®, please contact our office today to schedule a consultation. 

The Jeuveau® Treatment

Prior to your treatment, you will need to schedule a consultation appointment at our office. During this visit, we will evaluate your area of concern and review your medical history to ensure that you are a good candidate. 

During your appointment, your will speak with your injector regarding the areas you wish to enhance, and your skin will be cleansed. Prior to treatment, you may be offered a topical anesthetic to ensure that you are comfortable. Then, the Jeuveau® will be carefully injected into the glabellar lines using a fine needle. Treatment is quick, usually taking about 15-30 minutes to complete.  

Jeuveau® Results

Following your Jeuveau® treatment, you may experience some temporary side effects such as mild redness, swelling, or bruising. There is no downtime required following your treatment, which means you can return to your daily routine right away. Patients may begin to notice results within 24-48 hours for moderate to severe lines, with full results seen in 30 days lasting 3-6 months.

How long will Jeuveau last?

Jeuveau® may last longer or shorter for each patient depending on how quickly their body metabolizes the product. On average patients can expect to experience the youth-restoring results of Jeuveau for 3-6 months.

What is the difference between Jeuveau and Botox?

Both products are botulinum toxin type A injectables. However, Jeuveau® is made of a more purified formulation. Jeuveau® is also faster acting, with results visible in two days, compared to Botox's® three to five days.

What is Jeuveau® used for?

Jeuveau® is used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

What are the potential side effects of Jeuveau®?

Common side effects include redness, bruising, pain, and infection at the injection site. Less common side effects include headache, nausea dizziness, eye irritation, drooping eyelids, and muscle weakness.

Who is a suitable candidate for Jeuveau® treatment?

Jeuveau® is suitable for any adult patient who is looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Ideal candidates should not have an allergy to botulinum toxins.

Can Jeuveau® be used for other cosmetic concerns?

Jeuveau is FDA-approved for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows.

What is the recommended age for Jeuveau® treatment?

There is no specific age that is recommended for treatments with Jeuveau®. Because this treatment is meant to reduce the appearance of frown lines, the best age for this treatment would be when these lines are at moderate to severe visibility.

Are there any contraindications for Jeuveau® injections?

Jeuveau® can be particularly harmful in patients who have a botulinum toxin allergy. It can also be riskier if the patient is suffering from a compromised skin barrier due to eczema, psoriasis, or injury.

How soon can results be expected after Jeuveau® treatments?

Results can become visible in as little as two days after receiving Jeuveau® injections.

Are touch up treatments necessary with Jeuveau®?

Jeuveau® offers a temporary solution to the signs of aging on the face. In order to experience the benefits of Jeuveau® for the long term, you must have touch up treatments.
