What is Juvéderm® Ultra XC?

Juvéderm® Ultra XC is an injectable filler created to temporarily add volume to thin lips, as well as smooth moderate to severe lines around the nose and mouth. It is created with hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring sugar in the body that gives skin its structure moisturizes, and increases skin elasticity. When injected beneath the skin, this filler smooths out unwanted lines and adds volume to the lips for a more youthful appearance.  

Who Can Benefit fromJuvéderm® Ultra XC?

Adults 21 years and older who are looking to soften the appearance of lip lines or add plumpness to their lips can often benefit from this filler. However, patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have a history of severe allergic reactions or keloid scarring, or have pigmentation disorders should not receive this treatment. The Juvéderm® Ultra XC Treatment

During your Juvéderm® Ultra XC appointment, your injector will first determine which areas to treat, and then the skin will be cleansed. Juvéderm® Ultra XC will then be carefully injected into the necessary areas. Because this filler contains lidocaine, injections should not be painful. Your injector may then gently massage these areas to ensure that the filler is evenly distributed for the best results. Treatment can take anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour, depending on the amount of change desired.

Juvéderm® Ultra XC Results

After your treatment, you may experience mild symptoms such as redness, swelling, or itching at the injection site, which will dissipate with time. While there is no downtime required, we do recommend that you minimize strenuous activities and exercise and long-term exposure to the sun for the first 24 hours after treatment for the best results.  

Results may be noticeable right away and improve over the next two weeks. Overall, patients can enjoy their Juvéderm® Ultra XC results for up to one year.

After your injections, you’ll want to avoid strenuous activities, direct sun exposure, makeup, and touching or putting pressure on the treatment area.
