What is Dysport and how does it work?

Dysport is a neuromodulator and neurotoxin injectable that is made up of botulinum toxin type A. It temporarily stops the specific facial muscles from contracting. When the muscles can no longer contract, the skin smooths out, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

What areas of the face can be treated with Dysport?

Dysport is FDA-approved to address frown lines or glabellar lines between the brows. While Dysport can be used in other areas “off-label,” it has only been approved for frown lines.

How soon will I see results after my Dysport treatment?

Most patients will see their initial results 2-3 days after their Dysport treatment, but it can take a week or more for the final improvements to be visible.

How long do Dysport results last?

Dysport results can last anywhere from three to four months. After that period, you will need retreatment to maintain your results.

Is there any downtime after Dysport injections?

There is very little downtime after Dysport injections. That said, you will want to avoid strenuous activities, rubbing and touching the injection sites, and alcohol for at least 24 hours. You’ll also want to abstain from lying down for at least four hours.

Who is a good candidate for Dysport?

If you are struggling with frown lines, you are likely a good candidate for Dysport. We also recommend that you be in good overall health, have realistic expectations of treatment, and not be allergic to any of the ingredients in Dysport. How can I prepare for my Dysport appointment?

Before your Dysport appointment, you’ll want to avoid alcohol, blood-thinning medications, and certain supplements. On the day of your appointment, you will also want to come to our office with a completely clean face. If you have any documents with your medical history or a list of medications, that can also be helpful to bring with you.
